It’s the 1st day of a brand new month, my dark lovelies! September is here and you know what that means! Fall is finally upon us. With the autumn equinox only 21 days away, we can start preparing for the new season. And you know what we’re really excited for, right? HALLOWEEN!!
As for today, September 1st, don’t forgot to say, “Rabbit, rabbit,” when you wake up before you say anything else. I’ve always accepted saying it but I’ve never asked – why is that a thing? Let’s explore!
So the superstition is that you say, “Rabbit, rabbit,” before saying anything else on the 1st day of every month and it’s supposed to bring you good luck all month long. I don’t know if that applies at the stroke of midnight, if you’re awake, and not just when you wake up. If that’s the case, I already blew it. Bleh!
Some lore originates it in the UK from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Other lore points to children, way back in the day, uttering, “Rabbit, rabbit,” in hopes of getting a present. Some people say it’s because rabbits’ feet are lucky. Some people even say a different version of it, such as, “Bunny, bunny.” I really couldn’t find anything concrete. But if it’s good enough for Face from Nickelodeon, then it’s good enough for me!
Two 1st of the Month Rituals
one Don’t forget to blow cinnamon through your front door to attract abundance.
two Salting your doorway is another good 1st-of-the-month ritual to call in prosperity and lock it in while keeping out any negative energies that try to siphon it.
The 1st of the month is also a good time to recharge your ‘bowls’ or other ingredient-based spells. Always remember that intention is key! Please dispose of old ingredients responsibly. I hope you all have an especially fun and productive day, my dark lovelies. I’m going to try to clean my house today. Shed the old month to make room for the new one. Blessings from Texas!
